Yes, it heats the glue up so the frets can easily be removed without tearing up the fretboard... I pulled the frets, filled them with putty, sanded it down and put a thick lacquer finish over it... It was by no means a professional job, but it worked for me..

Never actually seen this done. Do you heat the fret with a soldering iron to soften the glue or something?
