This alder bodied 8 string bass was made by Bill Conklin and Mike Apperson of Conklin Guitars. It has a birdseye maple top, fretboard, pickup cover and headstock cap as well as a single custom Nordstrand Fat Stack wired straight to the output jack.
Josh, the people I've met in the music world are some of the most incredible! :)
Right on! And go figure. That's good to know. I've found that there are quite a few cool cats in the realm of music.
My pleasure, man! Bill Conklin recently celebrated his 25th anniversary of building instruments. Aside from the quality of his builds and what I think of as his artistry, he is one of the nicest cats walking the earth. :)
Awesome! Thanks for the link. I can't imagine somebody who wouldn't adore a bass like this. I'll have to keep Conklin Guitars on my radar.
Thanks for the kind words. I adore this bass! You may have to cut and paste this into a browser, Josh, but there are some shots on the builder's site, Conklin Guitars. When you get to the site, just tack this onto the end: /custom_8_string_bass_birdseye_maple.html
This is one of the coolest basses I have ever seen! Would love to see a full body shot of this beast.
