This is my go to setup. I re-wire things occasionally, but in general this is how it works. Through the front is pretty simple; I use the rocktron's overdrive channel to boost/fatten up the amp tone and get lighter crunch tones. The effects loop is a little different. I put the volume pedal here because I didn't want to cut any tone going into the front, but rather I wanted to soften the volume coming out the head to the speaker. It also allows me to use a long delay sound, cut the volume, and let the delay ring out. I just prefer it this way.
