Brand new, these cost just about $240, depending on where you buy them. I found these used for about $100 and man are they worth it. The Remo branded ones come with Remo's pinstripe heads, and seem to be the most solidly constructed (the other brands are knock-offs, Remo patented them first).
The sound is similar to many other accessory percussion items, such as octobans and timbales, but is a little bit less full. Their sound is what many would call "paper-thin" and is just pure attack. Double strokes and triple strokes come out very clear on them and are easy to execute. Makes your chops seem way better than they actually are! Haha.
Anyways, for $240, I would really think about the decision to buy them. If you were originally thinking of laying down $669 for the Tama octobans, I would try these out in a heartbeat. You may even like them better!
