These are Axis' standard high end shortboard pedals (A series). Come with sonic beaters and cam adjustment unlike the X series.
These pedals are the Axis A shortboard pedals. Since Axis doesn't make shortboards in any of the other more custom lines of pedals (A21, GK), they are the best shortboards you can get from them. They retail for $569 and come with the sonic beaters, a few allen wrenches and a drum key.Let me tell you - everything on this pedal is adjustable. It has an adjustable cam, adjustable beater angler and footboard angle, spring tension, and much more. The beaters it comes with are also adjustable in how much they stick out. Amazing adjustment capability and customization ability. The feel of the pedals on medium spring tension is somewhat light, but also very responsive and surprisingly powerful. Nowhere near as powerful as my Speed Cobras, but still very much so. Heels down playing and swivel type playing feel great, but I think the Axis really excel in doubles techniques like the slide and heel toe. I have only just started the slide on the right foot but I can tell it's going to be easier than on the speed cobra. One thing I do not like is how they feel when playing accented bass notes or heel up double bass. They feel gimped, to be honest. There is just no momentum there and it feels weak on my foot. I guess amazing responsiveness is not really needed for a heels up type of feel and a lot of power got sacrificed when designing this pedal which is detrimental to that kind of style.Overall, if you play heels down all the time or some kind of variation of it, I'd highly recommend these or the longboards. If not, I'd pass and go for some DW 9000s or Speed Cobras, or maybe some Mapex Falcons.
